The Chedi Luštica Bay approaches sustainability with clarity and purpose. Our focus is on meaningful action across climate and environmental protection, community wellbeing and responsible economic development. Building Standards

The Chedi Luštica Bay buildings are excellently insulated and were built in accordance with the low-energy standard. They feature systematic air exchange and filtering, which ensures good air quality.

Energy Recovery

Intelligent green construction methods and the latest energy-saving technologies have been used throughout the Luštica Bay development as well as The Chedi to ensure our buildings slash the current regional energy consumption. Facilitating natural ventilation with high-ceilings, well-aerated roofs and attics and a carefully organized property layout, oriented towards prevailing winds. The use of heat recovery ventilation systems to provide fresh air and improved climate control, while reducing heating requirements.

Heating

Windows and doorways designed to capture onshore and offshore breezes and utilize cross-ventilation through the building. Thickly insulated concrete walls to keep buildings cool or hot depending on the season. The Chedi Luštica Bay is heated with district heating supplied by water heating pumps, meaning that the heat is 100% CO2-neutral.

Power

The Chedi Luštica Bay gets all its power from hydro-electric stations, supported by wind turbines. Despite significantly higher occupancy rates, power consumption has been stabilized and not increased substantially in recent years.

Bio Waste

Green waste and material from grease traps are collected and sent to a facility that generates fossil fuel or fertilizer. Disposal is coordinated with Luštica Bay. This reduces the number of trips and optimizes loads.

Laundry

Bed linens and towels from The Chedi Luštica Bay are laundered in house by support of local laundries which use certified eco-lab chemicals and electrical appliances with low-power consumption.

Waste Management

Waste separation is the rule at The Chedi Luštica Bay. Where possible, food is purchased locally and in reusable containers in order to keep packaging waste to a minimum. The use of plastic is being reduced – drinking straws, stirrers, etc. are made of recyclable materials. The Chedi is successfully implementing multi-use poli-carbonate water bottles. All single-use plastic water bottles will soon be eliminated from rooms and suites.

Energy-Efficient Appliances

When electrical appliances are purchased, preference is given to those with low power consumption.

Fair Working Conditions

The employees at The Chedi are hired in accordance with Montenegrin labor law and general and hospitality collective agreement. It guarantees fair pay, contemporary hiring terms in line with the market and social protection. People of all age groups and genders enjoy equal opportunity at The Chedi Luštica Bay.

Personnel Development

The Chedi Luštica bay offers its employees flexible working time models so that they can reconcile their personal lives with their jobs. Advanced training and language courses are actively promoted and supported, and an internal offer of basic and advanced training ensures that employees also have opportunities for advancement within the company.

Social Commitement

The Chedi Luštica Bay offers protected jobs for reintegration into working life. It also works with the UNHCR to hire political refugees. The Chedi also has a long cooperation with local schools, in order to enable students to gain relevant experience working in the hospitality and tourism industry through different programs, including internships.

Local Embedding

Where possible, maintenance work at The Chedi Luštica bay is performed by local companies in order to keep travel distances short and preserve value creation in the region. As a rule, local suppliers are always given preference.

Hospitality

The focus of all activities at The Chedi Luštica Bay is on guests and their needs. The building is barrier-free and located centrally. Special offers are available for families, such as a babysitter service and a menu selection for children. Pets are welcome.

Dining Options For Everyone

The restaurants at The Chedi Luštica Bay are responsive to food intolerances. The restaurants have a wide range of vegetarian and vegan offerings and custom menus with meatless dishes.

Jobs And Training Positions

The Chedi Luštica bay employs more than 200 people and provides vocational training for cooks and restaurant and hotel managers. In addition, it offers internships for students at hotel management schools.

Trees for Travel allows guests to offset their carbon footprint by planting trees that support global reforestation. Herbs and Hiking is a guided foraging walk through the Luštica Peninsula, where collected herbs are donated to local sustainability initiatives, with guests receiving a locally sourced gift. Living Library invites guests to meet one-on-one with our Green Team to learn about our responsible hospitality efforts and exchange ideas.
